Membership & Pass Price Changes

Hubway's membership pricing is changing today for the first time since 2012. A few weeks ago we sent our existing members a note to let them know about the upcoming changes. Today the changes go into effect.

A lot has changed since Hubway launched in July 2011. In the last 6 years, Hubway has tripled in size to over 1600 bikes at more than 180 stations. There are now more than 14,000 Hubway members, and collectively you've taken more than 5.2 MILLION rides over the past 6 years. Cycling has never been more popular and prevalent in metro-Boston. Thank you for being a supporter of Hubway.

Our prices have remained constant since 2012, but today we are making some changes to allow us to keep up with an expanded system. Here is a list of those changes:

For 24-hour and 72-hour "casual" pass users, our usage fee has also changed. The details of the new usage fees can be found here. Usage fees for annual and 30-day members have not changed.

In addition, there have been some updates to Hubway Corporate Program pricing. If your membership is through your corporate affiliation with (1) MIT, (2) a "Champion" station sponsor/donor, or (3) a Hubway operating municipality (Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Somerville), the pricing changes will occur on May 5th, 2017, and you will have opportunity to renew at the former rates if your subscription expires prior to June 5th, 2017.

Since membership is pre-paid, these changes will not affect the duration of your current subscription, but renewing and new members will pay the new rate. Also, low-income residents of Boston who qualify will still receive $5 reduced-rate annual membership through the City's Boston Bikes program.

This is the first fee change since Hubway expanded to Brookline, Cambridge, and Somerville in 2012, and will allow us to keep up with the cost of running an expanded system and continue to provide you with the best possible service.

Not only is the Hubway network 300%+ larger today than it was in 2011 — with more stations on the way — we are constantly improving the program with you in mind. Over the past year, we hosted free member events, offered guaranteed docks at Fenway Park, and ran our most expansive winter operations to date. This year we'll be implementing additional valet service to help during heavy traffic times to ensure you can rely on Hubway to get you where you're going, when you need to get there.

Again, we thank you for being a member of the coolest club in town. Your Hubway membership truly contributes to the health and environment of the community. Without your membership, Hubway would not be possible. We're looking forward to riding together this spring.
